The Northeast Gathering was a huge success. The weather was wonderful and the dogs and people had a great time. Many dogs and owners enjoyed learning to use Wag It Games Puzzle Boxes. There were a series of boxes ranging from simple to complex. The dog would learn to manipulate the puzzle box to get to a tasty treat.
A sample Barn Hunt course was also available. This event offered a chance for dogs, with the help of their owners, to find the rat hidden (in a tube) in the hay. Several dogs made short work of finding the rat, while others needed a bit more assistance.
New this year was the Farm Dog Chore Challenge. This event offered dogs and owners the chance to experience a day in the life of a farm dog at the introductory level. There were ten "obstacles" imitating some common chores found on the farm, including live geese and rabbits.
Lunch offered a wide variety of delicious edibles and there were many Raffle prize winners. And of course, a pen full of puppies added to the day's fun.

On Sunday FoxHill Farm held the Farm Dog Clinic - Dogs and owners were introduced to the beginning steps of training a farm dog to help with working livestock. The dogs ages ranged from 14 weeks to 11 years old and all were naturally interested in working the sheep. Marianne Dwight and Kay Delk-Keziah assisted each handler and dog team in learning the basics of handling needed for working stock and also gave some pointers to help advance the teamwork and communication between dog and handler. The group learned so much and had such a great time that plans are underway for another clinic. To be included in the next clinic send an email to Marianne stating your interest.
